Deó Alum de Mo

For those of you looking for information about my home made deodorant, you found it! After filling up spare bottles with water and a scoop of potassium alum over the last 20 years I created my own bottles for fun, to hand out for free. I have never had a need for any other deodorant since I came in contact with alum, and have been an advocate from the start, as it has no negative side effects whatsoever! Other alum compounds that were developed by the chemical industry can create irritations and some leave stains in clothing as well. So why not go all out and turn it into a thing of its own?

Usage instructions

Just take 4-5 drops into the palm of one hand and smear under one armpit, and do the same for the other. Be careful not to drop any of the liquid as it will leave salt stains. (Which is not really a problem, just leaves a bit of a mess ;)

TLDR

Potassium alum is a natural occurring salt molecule that does not pass through the skin, so it stays on it, making the skin infertile for smelly bacteria. The effect can last up to 30-36 hours, so be sure to apply a new dose every day (especially when not showering) because the bacteria WILL come to live and leave an abhorrent smell of revenge.

Misconceptions about “aluminum” being bad

Some uninformed people that are either too lazy or think too fast keep propagating falsehoods about this naturally occurring molecule (and probably also about many other things because of their flaky strategy for acquiring knowledge, but I won’t go into that here).

I believe that the problem lies in the conflagration of potassium aluminum with other forms of aluminum (like aluminum chlorohydrate and aluminum zirconium compounds), which are synthetically produced and known to sometimes produce symptoms like skin irritation.

Bottom line is that there is no published evidence (that was found using scientific tools and methods, which should always accompany any quest for knowledge imo) that potassium alum is harmful.
