Corona & influenza statistics by the Dutch government

In an attempt to make sense of the data involving Covid and the measures taken by governments I am tracking official publications for a while now and decided to offset those against data about influenza.

Influenza deaths are usually around 5-8000 deaths in one season, which equals 45-65 per day (a season eq ~4 months, or 120 days, as it manifests around winter).

Corona deaths over the last 15 months have come down from 100 to 50 a day, and going down. Also seen only during the same winter months.

Seems like similar statistics, and these are the facts as presented by the government. No hypotheticals here. What am I missing?
